A Shared Fate
Length:
15:00 minutes
For more than a decade ocean conservationist Hardy Jones
fought to save dolphins and whales from blades and nets. But
by the late 1980s he found that many of the dolphins he knew
best were sick or dieing from high levels of toxins right
off our shores. In 1997 Hardy was diagnosed with chronic mercury
poisoning – probably from eating large quantities of tuna
and swordfish.
And in 2003 he was diagnosed with a form of
blood cancer that is closely associated with high levels of
pollution. See this extraordinary medical mystery. |
